The work in the cabin over the last few weekends has been all about getting the party wall (between the room and the rest of our barn) soundproofed. What seemed like a quick'ish' job has actually taken a lot of construction, time and materials. Tim has worked his socks off to get the wall finished - including installing the frame for a swish pocket door, to make the most of the space. My contribution through this phase has been to make cups of tea and hand Tim various items that are invariably at the bottom of the scaffold tower when he is at the top. I've been working on the KTC website this week but today I decided it was time I did something more practical again, so I braved the driving sleet of storm Eunice and scuttled across to the workshop. My task was to dismantle some of the pallets we've been gathering over recent months. Using my special pallet 'disassembler', I swiftly reaped a fair haul of planks. I removed the nails (eventually), sanded the wood and applied a dose of woodworm killer - a sensible precaution when you live in a barn! The treated planks will soon line the soundproofed wall, creating a feature that accentuates the height of the room (if the design goes to plan), adds texture and yells cabin without a trace of 70s orange toned pine cladding.
